Suggested notes for the use of cerium oxide:
(1) Supplies required:
1. Cerium oxide
2. Water (some people recommend distilled water)
3. Polishing wheel
4. Electric drill
5. Small plastic tub (pint or quart size)
6. Spray bottle
(2) Direction:
1. Thoroughly clean the area where you will be working. Is there dirt or grime
Glass, as this can cause additional scratches once you start polishing.
2. Have two small plastic buckets ready; quart or pint sized containers work well. Add half of the water.
3. Put the buffing wheel in the water; let it soak completely, but not drip.
4. Put some ceria in an empty bath and add enough water to make a slurry (thin paste-like mixture).
5. Install the wet buffing wheel on the drill and immerse it in the grinding fluid.
6. Put the buffing wheel on your work area, if it is near scratches, use a small felt wheel
corner of the window; keep the wheel moving up and down and in a circular motion. Of course, the paste won't dry out, which can cause your glass to overheat and crack. If the mud dries out, it can be sprayed with a spray bottle filled with water.
